YOYSEF MUZIKANT

YOYSEF MUZIKANT (b. 1855)

            He came from Russia and in 1880 arrived in the United States.  He was active among the first anarchist-atheist groups of Russian Jewish immigrants on New York’s East Side.  He contributed in 1886 to Nyu yorker yudishe folktsaytung (New York Jewish people’s newspaper), in which, aside from reportage pieces, he published translations from Russian, such as: Voynich’s [?] “Di bin” (The bee) and chapters from Karl Marx’s Das Kapital.  He apparently returned to Russian thereafter.
