L. LERNER

L. LERNER (b. 1896)
            He was born in Kuzmin (Kuzmyn), Podolia.  After WWI he moved to the United States, engaged in a number of different jobs, and later became the owner of a food shop.  At the same time he wrote sketches and humorous pieces for: Di shpayz-tsaytung (The food newspaper) in New York (1926-1933); Der independent groseriman (The independent groceryman) in New York (1931-1939); and others.  He contributed as well to: Forverts (Forward), Morgn-zhurnal (Morning journal), and Der amerikaner The American)—in New York.  In book form: Der groserimans lebn (The groceryman’s life) (New York, 1939), 72 pp.
