LURYA
He was a religious judge in Vilna
and other cities in Lithuania. He
translated into stylized Yiddish several Hebrew works of a moralistic religious
bent. His most important work was the
Yiddish-language Tana deve eliyahu
(Teacher from the house of Elijah), part A, 268 pp., part 2, 100 pp., published
in many editions, the first in Vilna (1900) and the last in New York (1955). Biographical details remain unknown.
