YASHA TSHERNIS

YASHA TSHERNIS (1909-1977)
            He was born in Novogorod-Volinsk.  He studied in the Odessa Pedagogical Institute.   From 1932 he was living in Birobidzhan, Proskurov, Khotin, and Moscow.  He wrote jottings and stories.  In later years he served as an editorial contributor to Sovetish heymland (Soviet homeland) in Moscow.  In book form: Der veg keyn kukan (The road to Kukan) (Moscow: Sovetski pisatel, 1984), 64 pp.  He died in Moscow.
