YUDL TUPMAN

YUDL TUPMAN (b. 1888)
He was born in Amshinov (Mszczonów), Warsaw district, Poland.  As a youth he joined the revolutionary movement and, because of police persecution, he had to flee Poland.  He lived in London over the years 1905-1910, returning thereafter for a time to Poland, and from there he moved to Switzerland.  He published in Arbayter-fraynd (Workers’ friend) in London, reports on literature and translations, mainly from French, and in Eyropeyishe literatur (European literature), edited by Avrom Reyzen, in Warsaw, which was the literary supplement to Fraynd (Friend) in Warsaw.  From 1918 he wrote correspondence pieces for Fraye arbeter-shtime (Free voice of labor) in New York.  He also published correspondence pieces and articles in Lebens-fragn (Life issues) and Folkstsaytung (People’s newspaper), both in Warsaw, Unzer shtime (Our voice) in Paris, and elsewhere.  He was last living in Geneva.
