KHAYIM ZAKHARYASH (1896-1939)

            He was born in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland, into a poor working family.  He received a traditional Jewish education.  In his youth he became a laborer.  He was an active leader in Jewish labor and cultural life in Tomaszów.  He was a Bundist on the city councilor of Tomaszów.  He published correspondence pieces in Lebens-fragen (Life issues) in Warsaw (1916).  He later wrote articles and impressions of workers’ lives for Tomashover vokhnblat (Tomaszów weekly newspaper) (1930-1938) and Pyetrikover veker (Pyotrków alarm) (1921-1939).  He was the Tomaczów correspondent for Naye folks-tsaytung (New people’s newspaper) in Warsaw.  He died of tuberculosis in Tomaszów.
