YITSKHOK-YANKEV VAYSVOHL

YITSKHOK-YANKEV VAYSVOHL (b. 1882)

            He was born in Lodz, Poland, into a Hassidic family.  He studied in religious primary school, synagogue study chamber, and later became a laborer.  In 1905 he was active in the Jewish labor movement, later in the cultural group, “Drame un muzik” (Drama and music).  He lived in Lodz until WWI.  He served in the Russian army.  He wrote novellas and stories of the lives of poor Jewish working people.  In book form: In keler (In the cellar), a story (Lodz, 1908), 32 pp.  Subsequent information remains unknown.
