P. VASERMAN

P. VASERMAN (1913-1942)

            He was born in Prage (Praga), a suburb of Warsaw, Poland.  He studied in a religious high school.  From his youthful years, he was active in the religious Zionist youth movement, initially in Bnei Akiva and later in “Tora veavoda” (Torah and labor).  Until WWII he was employed by the Jewish community of Warsaw.  He contributed to Yiddish and Hebrew publications put out by the Tora veavoda movement in Poland.  He authored several Yiddish-language pamphlets on religious Zionist questions.  He was a member of the editorial board of Tsienistishe leksikon (Zionist handbook) (Warsaw, 1935), for which he wrote the articles on “Hapoel hamizraḥi” (Mizrachi workers [religious labor party]) and other religious elements in Zionism.  He was killed during the destruction of Polish Jewry under Hitler.
