YANKEV GOLDSHTEYN

YANKEV GOLDSHTEYN (December 25, 1919)
            He was born in Warsaw.  He studied in a Jewish public school, later in a trade school.  During WWII he was in Soviet camps.  He emigrated from displaced persons camps in Germany to Montreal in 1949, and in 1967 he settled in New York, where he graduated from Empire State College with B. A. in labor studies.  He was a typesetter by trade.  He was active in the Bund.  He wrote journalistic articles on political and cultural-community matters for Keneder odler (Canadian eagle) in Montreal, and from 1967 for Forverts (Forward) in New York—at first, from time to time, and from 1984 as a regular contributor.
