ELIZABETH GORIN

ELIZABETH GORIN (1872-October 18, 1945)
            She was an author of light novels and a translator, the wife of author and theater enthusiast B. Gorin (Y. Goyde).  She came originally from Lithuania and emigrated to the United States in the early 1890s.  Together with her husband, she translated a series of works by French and Russian writers, and she served on the editorial board of Teater zhurnal (Theater journal) in 1901 and Teater zhurnal and familyen-blat (Theater journal and family newspaper) in 1902.  After her husband’s death, she became a regular contributor to Morgn-zhurnal (Morning journal), in which she published novels and articles about women’s issues.  She also wrote original sketches and translations for English serial publications.  She died in New York.
