YITSKHOK-LEYB GOLDSHTEYN

YITSKHOK-LEYB GOLDSHTEYN (1919-1942)

            He was born in Sosnovits (Sosnowiec), Poland, into a poor laboring family.  He studied in religious primary school and in a Polish public school.  In his youth he became a worker and joined “Tsukunft” (Future), the socialist youth organization.  Later, he was an active socialist youth leader.  He began publishing poetry in Kleyne folkstsaytung (Small people’s newspaper) in Warsaw in 1937, and at the time of WWII he published poems in Yugnt-veker (Youth alarm) and Folkstsaytung (People’s newspaper) in Warsaw.  He was in the Sosnowiec ghetto, and there he died of hunger.
