MAKS AYZENSHTADT

He was a bibliographer as well as secretary and a member of the presidium of the bibliographic section of the All-Russian Society for the Study of the Yiddish Language, Literature, and History.  The Society aimed to publish scholarly yearbooks (e.g., Moscow, 1929).  In the chronicle in volume one of this work, it notes that he had prepared a study on the subject of Judaica in general scholarly journals (Russian, Ukrainian, and Byelorussian).  Among his books: Der arbeter-klub, organizatsye un metodik (The workers’ club, organizations and methodology) (Moscow, 1926), 181 pp.; Masn-arbet in leyenshtibl (Mass labor in the reading room) (Moscow: Central Publishers, 1929), 52 pp.; Krayz-arbet in leyenshtibl (Group work in the reading room) (Moscow: Central Publishers, 1929), 39 pp.  He also published “Reshime fun idishe bikher” (Listing of Yiddish books) which appeared in the Soviet Union prior to 1923, Af di vegn tsu der nayer shul (On the way to the new school) (Moscow) 8 (1924), 5-6 (1925), 1-2 (1927).
